Ask Terry Questions Stimulus payment

Stimulus payment

By Terry Savage on May 06, 2020 | Wild Card

My 21 year old autistic daughter received Social Security monthly. I do not claim her on my income taxes. We do not file income taxes for her. How will she receive the stimulus funds. I have heard so many different things, I don’t know what is correct.

Terry Says

If she currently receives Social Security DISABILITY income, the stimulus payment will come to the same place she gets her benefits — UNLESS you claimed her as a dependent on YOUR return. In that case, she would not get a stimulus payment.
