Stock purchase date lost
Lost purchase slip from years ago when I purchased Microsoft. Sold some shares in 2022 and trying to determine capital gain. Is there a way to find date and initial cost?

Do you at least remember the year in which you purchased the shares? If so, an approximation will likely be ok (and you must take into account for any splits).
Are the shares held in the same brokerage account in which they were originally purchased? If so, the broker can look up the cost basis for you, although he/she will probably give you a lot of grief, because it takes some work!
Do you have the actual shares in your possession? That’s rate these days, but if you do, there will be a date on the certificate and you can look up the historical price for that month at BigCharts.com.
