Stocks now?
Hello,Terry
In 2008 I heard you say , probably on WGN , “If you believe in America this isa good time to
Invest. “
Well, I did!! I only invested my “Play Money “ , a few dollars here and there but Apple, before it split, was one I made and A few other good moves. I more than doubled
my investments !!! Of course I just lost some. It am still ahead!!
My question: is your comment the same ? Do we believe In America?
Terry Says
Yes, I definitely still believe in the future of America — and you should, too! But in the short term, I’m concerned about the future of the stock market! Remember, when you heard me say that it was near the bottom of a bear market. Now, I think we may be near the top of a bull market!
Since NO ONE can possibly know about these things except in hindsight, I always advocate continuing to invest on a regular basis. BUT, right now, people have huge profits from the greatest and longest bull market in history. I’ve suggested that especially for those who will need to spend some of that money soon in retirement, they might take “some of the chips off the table” so they aren’t forced to sell in a down market because they have RMDs to take, or need living expenses.
If you’re younger, just keep investing. Your fixed monthly dollar amount will buy more shares of the mutual fund in your 40l(k) plan.
