There IS a student loan forgiveness program applicable to teachers — but it is very difficult to meet the qualifications. And many private lenders are not well-versed (nor do they want to be!) about this program.
Here is a direct link to the Federal Student Loan info site, where you can learn more about it. It’s not for ALL teachers, only those who teach for five full and consecutive years in a low income school. The devil is in the details.
