T-bills vs. Treasury Notes
Terry,
In general, what do you think of Treasury Notes for chicken money compared to T-bills? Thanks.
Terry Says
I stretched my maturities out to two years a little over a month ago — for some of my chicken money. With the Fed cutting rates, I think you will soon see short-term rates dropping well below the nearly 5% they are paying now. But remember, you can’t just “cash in” Treasury notes if you need the money. You have to hold to maturity if you buy through TreasuryDirect. So keep some shorter maturities for liquidity.
