Ask Terry Questions tax refund

tax refund

By Terry Savage on April 28, 2022 | Taxes & Economy

I have a question about my tax refund for 2020 and 2021 since I had a complicated return after my divorce I just do not understand the letters the IRS is sending and I can’t seem to get a live person to talk to. I am homeless living in a low income hotel and hoping you have a contact for me for my tax questions since I cannot afford to obtain a tax advisor at this time.

I received my refund for 2019.

Thanks

That’s a tough situation. It’s why the IRS office of Taxpayer Advocacy exists. Here is a link: https://www.irs.gov/advocate/local-taxpayer-advocate
But like all other parts of the IRS, they are overloaded.
Here is form 911 you can download and send in: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f911.pdf

But I’m going to assume you might live in the Chicago area, so here is a REALLY useful link — to LadderUP tax assistance. They are designed to help people in your type of situation: https://www.goladderup.org/our-services/tax-assistance/
