This year i had to pay taxes on unemployment from illinois. Last year Idid not, is this correct?

Terry Says

The American Rescue Plan of 2021 allowed you to exclude unemployment compensation of up to $10,200 for tax year 2020. That exclusion is no longer available. I’m guessing that is the difference you are referring to — although it was for two years ago (your 2020 return, filed in 2021). Learn more here: https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc418
