tbills

By Terry Savage on June 14, 2023 | Chicken Money

I bought five tbills from treasury direct. Two of the tbills have matured and I received the interest accrued in my bank account but not my initial investment or $5,000 per tbill. Where is that money and how do I get it out as it is not making any interest now. They were both 26 week tbills. One matured on March 30, 2023 and one on April 20, 2023. I have another one that will mature on July 6, 2023. Thank you! I enjoy listening to you on WGN and have learned so much from you about interesting and money matters.

The money MUST be either in your linked bank account OR it was auto-renewed and is in your account! Have you checked into your account at TreasuryDirect.gov. Check again. The interest on T-bills is paid up front, and is “left” in your account when they withdraw the money. The full face value drops back into your account at maturity. Are you sure your T-bills “matured” — or were the dates in March and April the PURCHASE dates??
