The quality of two Municipal Funds

By Terry Savage on August 09, 2022 | Investments

Recently I inherited two Nuveen funds,
NZF and NAD. My parents had them for about 30 years. Are they worth keeping. I appreciate your opinion. Thanks

That’s a big question — and tax considerations probably should pay a huge part inyour decision
Your “cost” basis under current tax laws, is the value on date of their death — easy to find based on their monthly statement the month of death of the owner.

That means you can sell now with little or no taxes to be paid

The second thing to remember is that when I terst rates rise, bond prices fall. And the Fed is promising to push rates higher!

So without even checking on these specific funds, I’d say you have two good reasons to sell and re-deploy the money to a more appropriate use for your financial situation.
