Time to Sell in Suburbs?

By Terry Savage on September 22, 2020 | Housing / Real Estate

I have a 2018 built house in the suburbs (Yorkville) and I need to move to Indianapolis eventually. Do I sell now or wait for the spring market? With the uncertainty of the election and mortgage APRs being low now, I wonder if now is the time to sell. Also are interest rates expected to rise for mortgages?

My fear is if we are on our way to another housing market crash if people default on loan deferments and loans due to unemployment, etc.

I will need to buy in Indy, but even if I will have to build a house in Indy, the timing might be off on buying there. (If now is the time to sell here, I’ve got options in Indy if I can’t find something to buy there now.)

Remember the old saying “a bird in the hand . . .” If you KNOW you are going to have to sell, I’d do it now. The housing market is strong, rates are low, and you have alternatives. How could it get any better? On the other hand, taxes could go up, rates could go up, and the economy could suffer a second wave of Covid — all impacting housing demand and prices!
