Track estate IRS return

By Terry Savage on March 14, 2022 | Social Security

To set up an IRS account to track my sister’s 2020 estate tax return do I use the estate SS#, my sister’s SS# or my own as her personal representative? If I use the estate # what name? estate of … my sister’s name or mine? I just read your article in the newspaper and was relieved to find a way I might be able to track it as I am awaiting a $9,000 refund and can’t close probate until I get it.
Please respond to me email if at all possible. Thank you
Thank you

Use the link in it to create the account. If the estate filed the tax return and has a tax ID, then use that. But if that doesn’t work try using your sister’s SS number.
It’s not surprising that you haven’t received a refund. They are way behind, and estate tax returns need personal attention (vs personal returns). So yours may be way down the pile of more than 11 million returns they admit they haven’t reviewed!!
