Treasury Bills — help figuring it out
Hello Terry,
I saw you on Wgn this morning talking about Treasury Bills. I do have a Treasury account but not sure how to buy treasury bills. I’m a little confused about the rates for the bills. They show how many weeks the term and auction date and issue date but not the interest rate. Would like to get the highest interest rate and not sure how to do it. I appreciate all your help and look forward to hearing from you.

It gives step-by-step directions on how to purchase Treasury bills in your TreasuryDirect.gov account.
The specific yield is set by a huge auction every Monday. Individuals will get the “average” rate set at auction. You can follow the current yields on CNBC– just look under the Market tab, select “bonds” and then look for the current trading yield on 6-month Treasury bills.
Looking at it now, I can tell you the yield will be close to 4% at the auction on Monday.
