treasury direct application
Hi Terry. My husband and I would like to open a Treasury Direct account. We have a Living Trust.
On the application, would we use the Trust Name as the Entity Account Typeand the Entity Name?
Also, would we use the Trust Name for the name of the Account Manager? We want to do this correctly. Thank you Terry.
Terry Says
Yes, you’ll use the name of your Revocable Living Trust as the account owner — likely reading like this: The Smith Family Revocable Living Trust dated x/xx/2025, John Smith and Mary Smith Trustees.
You need a bank account opened with the exact same name, so you can have money moved into t-bills and have interest deposited in the account.
You should use the SS number of the spouse that your attorney chose to file with the RLT. Since you likely file a joint return, it doesn’t matter whose SS number that is.
You can name one of you — as the “account manager.”
