I spent so many hours (because of the site crashing) in the last week trying to open a new account on the site in order to buy the 9.62% I bond. I finally got through only to get an email that my account is on hold and I have to mail in a verification form. I’ve never had anything except a speeding ticket. I’m so terribly disappointed. Any thoughts?

I sent them an email with your email address, and they responded that they did need to speak to you. I don’t know why. Likely a simple mistake, like your bank routing number, on your account. Try calling next week. Things will be much calmer.
