Trust ( Bank requesting the deed )

By Terry Savage on December 08, 2024 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Hi Terry, my question is this we just set up our trust (on our own). Now the bank needs the deed to place my home into the trust. (this is Chase bank). I do not have the deed how would I go about doing this and does the bank need the deed.

Terry Says

Well, you SHOULDNT be setting up an estate plan on your own. 90% change of disaster down the line. And if you had chosen an estate planning attorney to do this work, he/she would have gotten the deed to your house and changed title into the RLT. (I’m assuming you have a mortgage, which is why you want the bank involved.)

I urge you STOP right now, and consult an estate planning attorney. If you don’t know of one, search here: https://search-attorneys.com/

Yes, it will cost you some money. But you know the old saying “penny wise and pound foolish.”
If you make a mistake you won’t be around to fix it by the time it is discovered!
