Turbo Tax & privacy

By Terry Savage on March 22, 2022 | Social Security

Last year I prepared our taxes with the online service because my computer couldn’t support downloading the software.
Now this year, in addition to the incessant messages reminding me to file I am receiving telling me when my various brokerage and bank 1099s are available. I don’t think I have them permission to access this years forms (new computer, will be downloading software). I am very concerned about privacy – anyone hacking into my email can see in which financial institutions I have accounts.
I’m unsubscribing to all emails from them but am concerned about the intrusion of my accounts for marketing purposes.

You make a very good point. I complained to CreditKarma because they keep sending me emails regarding specific accounts, and how I could be “saving” by making changes. I think the industry has to take a close look at this. And I am passing your comments along to my contacts at TurboTax.
