Unemployment

By Terry Savage on May 21, 2020 | Wild Card

Hi & Thank You.
I have been getting unemployment for 6 weeks since I have been off of work due to the corner virus until further notice to go back to work when the lockdown would be lifted. We were not paid for being off of work so we. So 1 month later we applied for unemployment. My employer “now” decided to apply for a small business loan which was approved & with the intention of paying us for the time lost in pay.
Now where do we stand finacialy since we did get unemployment?? Do we accept the pay at work, or not because we collected unemployment? What do we do?

Terry Says

YOu were unemployed and lucky that you got benefits. Those are yours. But, Now you have to stop certifying that you are “available for work” because your employer wants you back. And if you don’t go, you will be deemed to have quit — and thus not eligible for unemployment!
So basically, you have to go back to work.
Keep your claimant number, though, because if you get laid off again you can re-certify on that same claim.
