Unemployment for school worker now entitled by Governor’s order

By Terry Savage on July 18, 2020 | Wild Card

Hi Terry!
I applied for unemployment on June 26 and already was able to certify and received my first payment. I work in a cafeteria for a school district and not usually eligible for unemployment since I only work when school is in session. The governor approved workers such as myself to be eligible to apply as of June 1. My last day of work was March 13. Do you know if they retro benefits back to last day work or only from the day of application? I have been waiting for a call back to ask this question and I haven’t heard from them.
Thank you for your help!

This is a tough one. I hadn’t heard about this decision. The sensible thing would be to make it retroactive to the day of last employment. Let me try to get through to IDES to get the answer.
