Ask Terry Questions Unemployment benefits

Unemployment benefits

By Terry Savage on July 18, 2020 | Wild Card

Are unemployment benefits retroactive? For example my last day at work was March 14th and didn’t know being part time that I qualified for unemployment so applied in June. Can I get the benefits from March to June that I did not work? Thanks so much for your help with this matter.

Terry Says

Are you getting benefits now? If so, I would not mess with this for a while –at least while you are getting the $600/week. It is certainly possible to re-visit your application, but the system is such a mess that I’d hate for you to lose your CURRENT benefits!
