Unemployment Error when filing
My question is 2 fold…
1) My daughter filed for unempoyment on March 17th. She made an error when she filed and recertified. In error she answered the question “Were you able to work everyday of the week” incorrectly. She said no, thinking she works 5 days a week. She was indeed available 7 days. therefore she has not received unemployment payments. She has emailed and trid to call EDIS for assistance. No reply whatsoever. Is she out of luck.? When she recertified on March 28th she answered the question correctly and recieved a payment. Can she somehow get the previous weeks she missed out on?
2) Her employer has informed the team that she received the PPP loan, which then means they can no longer file for unemployment. They work at hair salon that is closed ,all were laid off. Can the employees continue to file for unemployment? The ones who didn’t make an error are collecting more on unemployment than as hair stylists. The owner is also telling them they cannot have access to the building to get their belongings and hair stying tools etc (which they provide and pay for for on their own). Does she have the right to do that?
Thanks for your assistance. You’re amazing!

Wow this is a complex question. I will try to ask the Director of IDES the basics on Friday —
BUT right now, I would suggest a threatening call to the owner of the salon, perhaps from an attorney, because she has no rights to withhold their private property! Fighting that lawsuit — plus damages — would probably cost her more than the stimulus payment!
Idea: Would you like ME to make that call??!! I’m spoiling for a fight today!
