Unemployment for Mainly Self Employed with a Part Time Job

By Terry Savage on May 13, 2020 | Wild Card

I have a part time job but the majority of my income comes from being self-employed. My part time job has ended so therefore I applied for unemployment through the regular website. I fear that I might get an approval for my part time job only but that’s very little money and would not include my self employment income. What should or could I do? I know that to apply for PUA I have to have a denial from IDES.

Terry Says

Exactly. So you might want to refile the original application to show the entire amount lost, even though some was from 1099 income. OR, on second thought, you can wait to be turned down by IDES on the original application and THEN file for PUA. That might be faster. As you can tell, I’m just guessing a bit at how they would handle this.
