Unemployment Insurance – date of benefits
Terry,
My son was unable to work due to local restrictions imposed beginning March 7 (March 6 was his last day of work). He didn’t get through to file for unemployment with the IDES until May 3. he received payment for the 2 weeks beginning May 5. I have heard you say that these benefits should be retroactive to his date of unemployment. I called the IDES several times only to get a message saying they cannot take my call at this time (with no option to leave a message or call back number). Do you have any advise other than keep trying to call?
Thank you very much!
Terry Says
The benefits ARE retroactive to the date of lost employment, including the $600 Federal weekly benefit, which lasts until July 25th.
The IDEs situation is SHAMEFUL! I hope the governor takes action to fire those in charge!
I will never let this situation go!!
In the meantime, all you can do is try to keep calling — and WAIT!
