Unemployment scam
I found out someone had filed for unemployment in my name, with my bank account and had my employer information in Illinois. I notified my employer, sent a message to IDES, called my bank and made a simple fraud claim. I never heard from IDES or fraud. What should I know about this? How did this happen? It also happened to a coworker. Thanks much.

It’s happening to a lot of people! You’re definitely not alone. And a lot of people will get 1099 tax forms in January, asking you to pay taxes on money you never received. Please read this article and do EVERYTHING I recommend. It’s very important that you keep records of your attempt to report the fraud.
