Use of PI Pin on 2020 return

My wife and set up on line accounts with the internal revenue service and received our 2021 IP Pins on line February 9, 2021.
The question is, “Do we need to use that IP Pin on our 2020 return?”

Yes, they are expecting you to use it — and now won’t accept your return without it!!
and next year you must get a new PIN.
