Using my Thrift Savings Plan to buy T bills

By Terry Savage on April 20, 2024 | Chicken Money

Good morning, I am a retired federal employee and have money in our Thrift Savings Plan (a retirement savings and retirement account). Do you know if I can use money directly from the TSP to purchase T Bills? Kinda like you can with Fidelity, Vanguard and other brokers?

Terry Says

No, the Treasury does not act as custodian for any type of retirement plan. You can use the brokerage division of Fidelity or Vanguard to buy T-bills in a retirement account, since they act as custodian. But this is not a TreasuryDirect.gov account.
