Wait to cash out til market returns to AT High?

By Terry Savage on March 27, 2020 | Investments

Do you think we will return to all tomorrow highs of mid February anytime soon. I regret I didn’t sell at high, especially when I wondered why the Market was ignoring the crisis, limited to China at the time.
I had inherited $30,000 from an uncle and put it all into the market thinking it would grow. It did, til the market fell off a cliff in a matter of days. I need that money for my sons’college in about a year. Meanwhile, I still have. College IL!, the best thing ever. So what do you think: sell into strength. Or wait and see. I don’t have much cash flow now, and may need by To sell stock to pay bills, if this crisis continues past May.

Oh why, why are you suddenly NOW wanting my advice. If you had written to me when you got this windfall I would have said put it all in a MM fund since it is such a short time horizon.

As I noted in the latest post on my website, I have no idea how far/when the market will rebound. But I’m wondering if I will ever see those highs again in my lifetime. Yes, money moves markets — but the economy will take a long while to come back.

I would suggest selling HALF now, anytime now, and putting it in a MM fund. That way you will only be half wrong — and half right!
