When to do first RMD

Hi Terry,

I will turn 73 in 2026 so my RMD will be due based on year end statements from 2025.

Question – do I have til April 1, 2027 to make my first RMD (but all subsequent payments will be due by 12/31.

You’ll want to do your first RMD in 2026. Waiting and taking two in one year (2027) could not only put you in a higher tax bracket, but a higher premium bracket for Medicare Part B and D.
