Where to invest a windfall now!

My wife and I are retired teachers with a good pension. We are both 72 and can’t decide where to put $250,000?
Stocks, CD’s, Money Market? Would appreciate your expertise. Thank you.

Perhaps I should start with my traditional question: How much of this windfall are you willing to lose?
Surely, that gives you something to think about.
Now would you call a physician and ask for a diagnosis based on your age and the fact that you are running a fever?? Of course not! Similarly, I can’t possibly give you information specifically.
