whether or not to pay off mortgage with some of my retirement funds

By Terry Savage on January 08, 2022 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Should I pay off my mortgage with some of my retirement funds? I think I heard you say in your radio interview that you should. If I pay off $100,000 I will have approximately $100,000 left in my deceased husband’s (now mine) account. Please advise.

Well, a lot of that answer depends on your entire financial picture. I was speaking about the balance between what you could earn on your investments and what you might pay on your mortgage. But you will also need cash to live on.
I have no idea of your age, your total financial picture, and how long you plan to stay in your home.
If you want to write back with some details, I won’t publish them but will respond by email.
