Why am I double paying for my management?

By Terry Savage on January 03, 2026 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Hi Terry,
I sooooo love your chats and playful banter with King John!
I’m 69 and retired but still doing some work for the title company I retired from. I love staying busy and needed!
My retirement savings have been managed by a financial planner who’s a Fiduciary. My funds are being held by Charles Schwab.
For several years I’ve wondered if the money I’m paying my financial planner is worth it. I wonder if letting the CB company manage my account would do me as well. My wife is doing this with her IRA at ??? and it seems to be working well for her. Every time I meet with my planner she always tells me to bring my wife’s numbers in so she’s looking at our finances in a more complete format.
Whatcha think ?
Happy New Year and enjoy Mexico!

How about you both get together and get a review of your combined situation from a fee-only FIDUCIARY financial planner who is not trying to sell you anything?

Here’s where to start reviewing your retirement goals, tax situation, estate plan, in a comprehensive way — as well as your investment allocations.
You may stick w your current advisors— or move. But it pays to get an independent analysis. Read this:
