Hello Terry – I have read your cautions about using online DIY sites to create your own will or trust. Would your caution also extend to a site like LegalZoom which does have some charges and access to attorneys?

Call me old fashioned, but I really think you want to meet — in person — with an attorney who specializes in estate planning in your state. It’s not that questions online are answered wrongly — it’s that they may not ask ALL the important questions, the things you haven’t thought of. Stuff like, what happens if my heir becomes a drug addict?? What if my grandchild gets a scholarship to college? What if my chosen living will proxy develops dementia (happens with spouses). Gosh, there are so many things that could go wrong. You want to have a personal discussion, about your personal situation, and your heirs/trustees/beneficiaries.
