Work hours (minures not paid)
Dear Terry, I realize this might sound petty, especially since so many are struggling. I work for a school district as a full time custodian. They have stated they will not pay any time after punch out up to 10 minutes. I can’t always walk out of job at 3:30. 6 0r 7 minutes x 2 times a week x52 weeks x3 years adds up.I understand no early punch in but seriously? If i stay late someone asked me to do something. They treat secretaries and paraproffesionals the same way. no contract, no union. Thoughts?

Funny, as I started reading your post, the thought that went through my mind was “that’s why we have labor unions!” I think that individually you probably can’t do anything about this — and don’t want to rock the boat and lose your job. But maybe you could write an anonymous letter to your local newspaper explaining this situation– Maybe it’s a story they would look into.
