Clarification as not clear to me in article. Was “Ellen” granted her husband’s larger pension PLUS her own smaller pension? Or her husband’s larger pension only? My situation similar and I feel I am short changed. I felt that your column was made for me! Thank you.

She was told she qualified for NONE of her husband’s SS — and that was wrong! Remember, this is Social Security — not a pension. And the rules are tricky, depending on the age your husband filed, and your current age, and your OWN earnings record. I suggest you go immediately to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com and pay the $40 to do the analysis. Then you can TELL SS what you deserve.
