Independent Contractor 1099 PPP OR UNEMPLOYMENT
I am an independent contractor in IL. I applied for the PPP loan but have not received a determination yet. No the state of IL has opened up applications for unemployment for independent contractors. Can I apply or do I have to wait for my determination on the PPP loan?

Go right ahead and apply for unemployment. But in a weird twist you must first apply for traditional unemployment and only THEN can you file for the PUA program for independent contractors! It could take weeks to get turned down and then reapply for PUA. But no reason you can’t get both going and see what works best.
