sons stimulus check not received yet
My son mailed his 2019 taxes on May 12th. He had to pay $538.00 to the Federal. When he checks on line for the stimulus he gets the statement that they are still checking his ability to receive the stimulus check. My question is are they still mailing out the checks since he did put his bank information on the form even though he was not receiving a refund.? Are stimulus checks still being issued? Yes, stimulus payments are still being issued — and likely will throughout the summer. But let me ask you one thing: Are you SURE you did not declare him as a dependent on your 2018 return? Or 2019 return? Because if you did on the 2018 return, they won’t send him a check. If you didn’t in 2019 –and he files his own return — he may have to wait until he files his 2020 return next year to claim his payment! Weird I know — but they may have already looked at your returns and decided he doesn’t qualify. It will take a review of his claim next hear to find out that he wasn’t a dependent in 2019 and deserved his own payment.
