Unemployment
Hi Terry:
Love your spot on WGN’s Noon Show!
I applied for unemployment back in March and requested payments go to a debit card instead of direct deposit as I try not to disclose personal info whenever possible. I note my IDES PAYMENT HISTORY page that a debit card has been credited with my unemployment benefits starting back in May, BUT I have YET to receive the debit card. Should I switch to direct deposit and will those funds sitting in the debit card account get transferred? Or should I simply STILL be patient and wait for the debit card?
THANK YOU so very much for addressing this.
Sincerely,
Terry Says
Yes, definitely try to switch payment to direct deposit. And also try the new call-back system to let IDES know of this situation. They are so messed up! People who didn’t even apply for unemployment are suddenly receiving loaded debit cards! And IDES won’t respond.
We will get this sorted out — eventually. And I hope that eventually is before you get a tax form asking you to pay taxes on these card benefits you didn’t get!
