Pua benefits denied

I was denied benefits and why can’t I get PUA benefits

Terry Says

Did you apply for regular unemployment first? You have to be turned down for that before you can apply for PUA (self-employment) benefits. AND you must have earned at least $1600 in the past year. And that must include at least one quarter –that is NOT the highest quarter — where you earned at least $440.
If you still think you are eligible, then the next step is to file an appeal. Of course, that’s almost impossible under the current mess. Even if you actually get throughthe phone system, the appeals process is bound to be delayed until they deal with the people who can prove their eligibility.
So, don’t count on that money anytime soon. But later on, when things calm down, you can file an appeal.
