Unemployment Compensation for wage reduction

By Terry Savage on July 28, 2020 | Wild Card

I recently had to take a paycut from my company on my wages of 10%, can I collect unemployment or not? I have been told that since I am still working I cannot. But I am not making what I was before and I have spousal payment.

Thank you

I’m certain that a 10% reduction in pay will not qualify you for unemployment benefits — BUT it might be a reason for a judge to reduce your spousal payments. On the other hand, the lawyer will probably cost you more than you would save!
