Unusual Child Stimulus Check Question
I have an unusual issue. I receive SSI, but I also work. Therefore I file taxes each year. I am the legal guardian for my granddaughter. Because she is not my child I can not get SSI for her, but I do file her on my taxes. I received the Stimulus check for myself because of my SSI. My question is, how do I request the stimulus check for my granddaughter?

You need to file a request using this form:
https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here
Do it right away and see what happens. There was actually a filing deadline back in May for people on SSI to register their children for a stimulus payment. But since it is not your “child” but your grandchild, see if they will accept this registration. If not, please write back and Ill ask my contacts at IRS. In fact, I’ll do that on our next phone call and update this post if I get more info.
