EIP

By Terry Savage on August 23, 2020 | Wild Card

I have a 25 yr old son who is disabled and on SSI (since he was 18yrs old) He never received a stimulas check and we thought because we claim him on our taxes he would not get one. My husband (he is his Rep Payee) received an email from Social Security today stating if we received an EIP card we must activate it to receive the money. My son has never received the payment by check, direct deposit or EIP card. We are not sure how to check on this, should we fill out a 3911 form. I love listening to you on WGN radio!!!

This is very interesting. So, you’re sure the email is not a fraudulent use of your son’s identity? I have not heard of this happening, and so I would wait for the EIP card to arrive and go ahead and activate it. Perhaps because he is on SSI, he will receive a stimulus payment anyway. That would be a nice surprise! I am also going to ask my IRS contact if this is possible, and will revisit your question if I heard anything. And please do let me know if he receives this card.
