unemployment if hours are cut?
My employer is cutting my working hours from 37.5/week to 12/week and wants me and my co-workers to apply for unemployment, can you get unemployment when you are still working?
I don’t see under-employment on the IDES site.
I listen to you every time, you are on WGN.

Your employer is misinformed. If you are still employed, you cannot qualify for unemployment! (Only self-employed people who have substantially reduced income because of Covid can get unemployment benefits.)
I hope your boss doesn’t decide the solution is layoffs — because you aren’t getting much in the way of weekly benefits. Perhaps if there is another round of stimulus it will include PPP benefits (payroll protection) –giving money to your boss to pay salaries and avoid layoffs. Ask if he/she can hold on and keep paying until that happens — likely in late January, if not befoer.
