IDES Fraud on deceased man

By Terry Savage on December 29, 2020 | Wild Card

I am the power of attorney for an elderly woman. Her husband died about three years ago and I just received the debit card from IDES in her husband’s name. Since he has passed away, do I still need to follow up on all the steps you indicated for the fraud or can I just shred the card. I have listed to you every week on WGN but I don’t believe I heard this situation before.

This is a strange situation. REad this article: https://www.terrysavage.com/identity-theft-update/

You obviously don’t have to worry about the deceased, but you should report this to the FBI and IDES. AND, you should freeze her credit to make sure it isn’t happening to her, as well. It’s a hassle, but worth it.
