2nd Stimulus check mix-up
We are a husband and wife who file our taxes jointly. Our first stimulus check came without a problem, but this time we received (by mail again) two checks. One was in both our names for $1200.00 as was the first stimulus check. The second check received the same day was in my name only for $600.00. I could find no way on the irs.gov site that would address this issue. Do you have any information as to what I should do with the second check for $600.00? Thank you.

And you don’t have a dependent under age 17? That’s interesting. I’m sure they will get around to asking for it back — but there is currently no way to SEND it back! You have two choices — either deposit it but don’t spend the money, or just hang on to the uncashed $600 second check till they realize their mistake.
