Freezing my husband’s credit report
I talked to you live on WGN today (3/24). My husband is in a nursing home without the use of his hands. He also doesn’t have a cell phone. I have POA. When I go to freeze his credit, it asks for a cell phone number. If I use mine, I get kicked out of this registration. You suggested me getting a burner phone for a limited time. When the burner phone is used up, will that be a problem with his registration of his credit freeze.

No, I don’t think so. You’ll get a PIN and you can unfreeze online. People often change phones. I can’t imagine why you can’t use the same cell as your spouse to freeze your credit. But it is so tough to get through to the bureaus that I suggested this as a handy shortcut!
