529 versus I bonds for 3,2,1 year old grandchildren
Hi Terry, still glad I can get you on the radio in Madison WI.
We have 3 grandchildren ages 3,2,1 and wonder if 529 plans or I Bonds would be better for college?
Thanks, I have read your books, watched you on tv until we moved out of state in 1989. You are still great to hear on am radio when I can get it up here.

Thanks for your note. I’d open a 529 account for each of your grandchildren and contribute regularly on birthdays and holidays. Over the long run — 20 years– stocks have always beaten inflation, which is what I-Bonds are supposed to do. I think you’ll come out ahead in the 529 stock investments. If you don’t know where to look for a 529 plan go to Vanguard and use theirs. That’s what I did for my twin granddaughters.
