bcbs plan F vs bcbs Plan F SECURE
I am 73 years old and have been on Plan F since 2015. The price has risen quite a bit and in the last year, it rose $60 a month. Now my broker is offering me Plan F SECURE. All I have to do is complete the Health History Form. It asks about health history for the last 3 years. Prior to 3 years, I had major medical issues (breast cancer; total knee replacements). I am concerned that “if something looks too good to be true, it is not true!”
I saw your answer for BCBS Plan F Select, but since this is BCBS Plan F Secure, but does your answer hold the same regarding BCBS Plan F Secure?

I checked with Thomas Dillon of JTMedicareSolutions.com and here is his response:
BCBS Secure & Select are the exact same thing. BCBSjust just changed the name.
Select or secure Medicare Supplements are unusual in that.. Yes… you can see any Dr and go to any Hospital BUT.. if you are having a scheduled surgery/procedure (whatever) BCBS has a group of hospitals they want you to use.. you can use whatever hospital you want for emergencies.. but they have a list of hospitals for scheduled surgeries.
When I first saw these “select” policies.. I thought.. isn’t the whole idea behind a Medicare Supplement that you can choose any hospital? But the rates have gone up so much that most people are willing (Because BCBS has such a huge selection of hospitals in Chicago) to use the select plans.. and save +-$50 a month.
