Ask Terry Questions Medigap plans

Medigap plans

By Terry Savage on August 11, 2025 | Insurance & Annuities

You have given me valuable advise! Now looking into medigap. Do you recommend going with Plan G if we can afford. Any companies you prefer? Are you still happy with contacting Thom Dillon at JT solutions. I am concerned if we have a claim issue that he can only help with selling since he can’t resolve claim problems. Ever hear of Medicareschool.com or boomer benefits?

Terry Says

First, yes — I recommend you stick with Original Medicare and a supplement. And yes, Plan G if you can afford it. The premiums are more expensive, but if you need care in the future, you’ll be glad you have it to pick up just about every extra expense!

There are several ways to choose a Plan G. You can go directly to Medicare.gov and search for Plan G programs in your state of residence. Since they all offer the same benefits, the “star ratings” just refer to the service they give on billing. YOu can sign up directly from the Medicare.gov website. You shouldn’t need an agent to represent you once you have a supplement. Just give the card to your provider and they will bill the insurer.

Yes, Boomer Benefits is another good source of expert help from licensed agents. And so is eHealthMedicare.

The agents are not compensated differently by different insurers. The only thing to know is that the compensation for selling you Medicare Advantage is much greater. So don’t fall for it! Just say you want Plan G.
