Medicare Part D, low income help?
Why is there a penalty if I want a Part D only Medicare. I admit ignorance when starting Medicare seven years ago. I do not take any regular meds at 72 (!!)…yet anyway. Is there help to pay for that as a low-income single (widowed) person? Thank you.

You WILL be subject to a penalty because you didn’t sign up on time. And eventually you WILL take meds, and you’ll want to get insured and take advantage of hte out-of-pocket spending cap ($2100 in 2026).
Go to www.HeyMoe.com and go through the process. You can ask them to figure out the monthly premium penalty, and whether you should sign up now or wait until you really need hte insurance, given the fact that you’re already way past the deadline.
