It has been suggested that parents should subscribe to identity protection services not just for themselves but also for their minor children. Since minors receive social security numbers at birth, there is the thought that their SSN could be compromised by an identity thief at any time. How significant is this risk and should minors get identity protection plans?

You make a good point, but since kids have SS numbers my best advice is to just put a FREEZE on their credit. I actually hadn’t thought of that before, but it’s a great idea. Just make sure to record their PIN!
