Investing

By Terry Savage on March 09, 2026 | Wild Card

My 24 year old son has saved $40,000 and the only debt he has is about $15,000 in student loans. He lives at home. He has all the money in a savings account that doesn’t earn hardly any interest. He is also trying to find a full time job (graduated NIU with a dual degrees Meteorology and Geography). He is currently working as a substitute teacher while searching for full time employment. What would you recommend him to do to get himself started with investing for his future?
Thank you.

This will sound self-serving, but I wrote my book, The Savage Truth on Money, exactly for him, and his contemporaries. Today I signed a copy of the book for the son of a friend of mine — in exactly the same situation.

If it doesn’t solve the problem — he only needs to read the first six chapters — I’ll give you a personal money-back guarantee!
